In the Company of Others Inc. is a not-for-profit incorporated association based at the Body Voice Centre, Footscray. ABN 15 670 886 658

It is made up of a group of artists associated with the studio over an extended period of time initiating a range of performative events, dialogues, gatherings, classes and encounters that recognize the importance of the company of others in the creation of perceptual practice as art.

Originally called ‘Body Breath Voice Inc’, In the Company of Others was established in 2000 to initiate voice movement research and performance projects, to support the work of artists in that field, to engage in dialogue with other practitioners and groups involved in voice movement work and other related areas, both in Australia and overseas, and to document the projects undertaken.

Since 2002 n the Company of Others has been active in bringing to Australia practitioners from the Middendorf Breath Institute in Berlin, and in initiating workshops involving Julia Moody from WAAPA and Cristina Castrillo from Teatro della Radici in Switzerland.

In the Company of Others is the auspice body for Performance Practicum and Ship of Fools, projects that commenced in 2010 and continue on in 2011.

In the Company of Others presented a one-day workshop with Phil Thompson, Master teacher of Fitzmaurice work and Head of Acting at the University of California, Irvine, on Tuesday 22 March 10-5 at the Body Voice Centre, preceded by a forum on Monday evening where Phil will spoke about Catherine Fitzmaurice’s remarkable body of work and its place in his teaching..
